Vintage Japanese Small Plates - Set of Six

A charming set of six vintage Japanese small plates, each decorated with a softly impressed wild boar at its centre. The plates are formed from warm, lightly speckled clay and finished in a milky-white glaze. 

In Japanese tableware, plates of this size may be described as kozara or meimeizara, individual plates traditionally used for sweets, small appetisers, condiments, or shared dishes. They are also beautifully suited to jewellery, incense, or other small objects.

A faint impressed potter’s seal appears beneath each plate, although the individual maker and kiln have not been identified.
