Vintage Hagi Ware Sculptural Serving Bowl
A beautiful vintage Hagi ware serving bowl, hand-formed with a softly irregular silhouette and four subtle indentations around the rim.
The glaze moves between warm cream, misty blue-grey and muted blush pink. Fine crazing across the glaze is characteristic of Hagi ware and adds to the vessel’s aged, tactile appearance.
Its shallow, sculptural form makes it ideal for serving food, fruit, shared side dishes or sweets, while also displaying beautifully as an object in its own right.
An impressed potter’s seal appears on the underside; however, the individual maker has not been identified.
Tradition: Hagi ware
Material: Glazed stoneware
Form: Irregular shallow serving bowl
Mark: Impressed potter’s seal to base
Condition
This vintage piece appears to be unused and is in excellent condition, with no chips or visible damage. Fine glaze crazing, tonal variation, minor firing marks, and subtle irregularities are natural characteristics of handmade Hagi ware rather than faults.
As a vintage, one-of-a-kind object, slight imperfections and signs of age may be present and form part of its character.
